JAZA recognized for championing healthcare

February 27, 2018, Makati City - Ayala Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala was awarded as this year’s Metrobank Professorial Chair for Public Service & Governance by the Metrobank Foundation, and the Ateneo Professional Schools. 

Mr. Zobel de Ayala was chosen for his leadership in providing affordable and accessible quality health care through AC Health, Ayala’s healthcare portfolio company, and various initiatives across the Ayala Group. He is the first recipient of the Professorial Chair from the private sector.

In his lecture entitled Improving Healthcare for All: Strategies and Innovations at the Ayala Group, Zobel de Ayala highlighted the importance of inclusive innovation in shaping Ayala’s approach to healthcare. He discussed AC Health’s strategy to build an integrated healthcare ecosystem across the continuum of care, with Generika pharmacies and FamilyDOC clinics at the forefront. He also encouraged collaboration between and amongst the public and private sector towards improving healthcare.

“The work that we do in healthcare is about improving lives. Ultimately, healthcare is about people,” Zobel de Ayala stressed. “We need the engagement of multiple stakeholders to ensure that we are protecting the fundamental right of all Filipinos to receive the healthcare they need and deserve.”

The Metrobank Professorial Chair award is given annually to individuals who have demonstrated ethical, effective, and empowering public leadership in the fields of judiciary, public service and governance, and health.
